Aníbal Torres was named executive director of the Latin American Association in September 2015, after serving as interim executive director for three months. He served on the board of the LAA from 2008 until 2015, most recently as chair.


Throughout his decades-long career in publishing, Torres has held senior-level executive positions with a variety of media companies in the U.S., as well as in Latin America, where he worked for McGraw-Hill. Torres served as publisher of MundoHispánico, Atlanta’s largest Spanish-language newspaper, from 2007 to 2013. Prior to that, he was vice president and general manager of the Tribune Co.’s Hoy Spanish-language newspaper in New York City and publisher of the Tribune’s El Sentinel in Orlando, Fla. He has a distinguished record of community service and involvement.


Torres has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Dayton in Ohio.


A native of Puerto Rico, Torres has also lived in Colombia and Panama.
