Nury Castillo Crawford is the mother of three sons, a life-long educator, President of the Georgia Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, CEO and Founder of 1010 Publishing and a published author. She was born in Peru, South America and emigrated to the United States with her family when she was ten years old.


Nury attained a B.S. and M.S. degrees from Florida A&M University. Education is her passion and she feels privileged to support children grow both academically, emotionally and socially.


In addition, Nury is a powerful voice and advocate for parental involvement, but more importantly parental empowerment. She engages with both parents and educators on how to approach delicate relationships dynamics. She works diligently to be a bridge between schools

and families. She is an advocate for the correlation between language and culture.


As a spirited entrepreneur and author, Nury founded 1010 Publishing which specializes in helping exceptional novice and veteran authors publish their literary creations in a bilingual format. Her first book “3,585 Miles to be an American Girl” is a bilingual, children’s story inspired by her own journey to the USA. An inspiring story of an immigrant, girl who encounters challenges, but succeeds with the support of her family. Through her book, she speaks out about the struggles of immigration, education and the role it played as well as living the American Dream. Her second book pulls from her experience in supporting parents. She prides herself on helping parents become empowered with access to knowledge and resources, in order to support their children.


She continues to work in public education. She is honored to lead the state’s only non-profit focusing on supporting, collaborating, and leading Latinx educators in the state of Georgia.


She is currently a Director of Academic Support for Gwinnett County Public Schools, where she has broken ground by implementing a Hispanic Mentoring Program, the first of its kind in the school district.
